
The Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Croatia and Minister of Defense, Mr. Ivan Anušić, participated in the security forum and the informal meeting of European Union defense ministers, which was held in Warsaw, Poland. The discussions focused on the White Paper, the future of European defense, the development of EU defense capabilities, the financing of EU defense capability development, and other current topics. The Minister specifically emphasized the importance of continued investment in defense and the domestic defense industry, connecting this to the proposal of the new SAFE (Security Action For Europe) regulation and the new EU instrument worth EUR 150 billion. He highlighted the priority of investing in the development of domestic production within the defense industry.
At the forum, the “White Paper” on EU Defense – Readiness 2030 was published, which contains proposed solutions for bridging key capability gaps and building a strong defense industrial base, procuring defense systems, and the long-term increase of readiness in the European defense industry, with continued support for Ukraine.
Projects of common interest include: air and missile defense; artillery systems; ammunition and missiles; drones and counter-drones; military mobility; artificial intelligence; quantum technologies; cyber and electronic warfare; strategic enablers; combat capabilities; and protection of critical infrastructure.
