NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte visited Croatia for high‑level discussions with Prime Minister Andrej Plenković, followed by a dedicated meeting with representatives of the Croatian Defence Industry Competitiveness Cluster. The visit highlighted Croatia’s growing role within the Euro‑Atlantic defense ecosystem and the strong performance of its export‑oriented industrial sector.
During the meeting, Prime Minister Plenković emphasized that Croatia’s defense industry has become an exceptionally potent, technologically advanced, and highly export‑driven sector, contributing both to national capabilities and to wider European and NATO supply chains. After introductory speeches, the Croatian companies presented their latest products, innovations, capacities and development plans, underscoring their ability to compete globally and within the NATO ecosystem.
Secretary General Rutte expressed appreciation for Croatia’s industrial contributions and reaffirmed the importance of strengthening cooperation between NATO members in light of evolving security challenges. He noted that resilient defense industries — including agile, innovative sectors such as Croatia’s — are essential for maintaining NATO’s collective readiness and technological edge.
The discussions also touched on opportunities for deeper collaboration between Croatian companies and international partners, particularly in areas such as advanced manufacturing, protective equipment, and emerging defense technologies (particularly drone and cyber).
