EOA Project: Online Training Session on the Future of European Defence Funding and the Development of the Defence Industry

As part of the EOA (Enhancing Opportunities for All) project, an online training session was held on 29 October 2026, bringing together National Focal Points (NFPs), representatives of the defence industry and research organisations.

The two topics addressed during the training were selected based on the results of the questionnaire conducted during the EOA workshop in Zadar, reflecting the areas in which participants had expressed the greatest interest.

The programme covered two topical areas:

1. The EU Multiannual Financial Framework and Defence (2028–2034)

The first session was delivered by Aleš Lipnik, PhD, Doit-R Solutions Ltd. Participants had the opportunity to gain insight into the evolving European defence funding landscape, the transition towards the next EU Multiannual Financial Framework, and the complementarity of various funding instruments supporting defence innovation, research and industrialisation.

2. Defence Industrial Capacities – EDIP, EUDIS and DIANA

The second session was delivered by Julian Seethaler, EurA AG, and focused on the European Defence Industry Programme (EDIP), with particular emphasis on increasing production capacities, strengthening the resilience of the European defence industry and ensuring the security of supply for armed forces. The session also covered EDIP calls for proposals, funding rates, eligible activities, application timelines and award criteria, as well as opportunities offered by the EUDIS and DIANA programmes.

The training provided participants with additional information and practical guidance to better understand the new European funding instruments and the opportunities they offer for the development of the European and Croatian defence industries.
